Margaret E. Newbold, 93, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 5:45 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. Born in Oblong, Illinois on May 28, 1919, she was the daughter of Kenneth W. Kline and Clara (Mortimer) Kline. Margaret was a graduate of Oblong High School ~ Class of 1936. She was a farm wife until her husband died in 1963; she was employed with Burton’s Drug Store; Crawford County Mutual Insurance Company; Oblong Children’s Christian Home and occasional private sitter service. She was baptized and became an active member in 1934 of the First Christian Church, Oblong where she was active all her life and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She attended K. J. U. (Kum Join Us) Sunday School Class & Circle, Luv Lessons, Priscilla Circle and Miracles of Faith Sunday School Class. Margaret enjoyed sewing, baking, crafts and reading. Margaret treasured many friends, neighbors and relatives who were loving, kind and supportive beyond expectations. She expresses love and thankfulness for her children and extended family and felt abundantly bless by them.
On September 22, 1940, Margaret married Paul Newbold, who preceded her in death on August 26, 1963. Also preceding her in death were her parents; an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth; a brother and sister-in-law, Leslie & Jean Kline; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy & Randall Nidey; son-in-law, Lowell Fielder; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nephews, Harlan Newbold, Richard Newbold and Howard Newbold.
Survivors included two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray & Linda Newbold and Joe & Inez Newbold; two daughters and son-in-law, Erma Fielder and Judy & Tony Cork; nine grandchildren, Teresa K. Fielder, Alan & Jennifer Fielder, Brian & Linda Fielder, Tom Newbold, Sarah Hampton, Chris Cork, Patrick & Holly Cork, J. T. Newbold and Jessica & Quinn Gray; eight great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois & Donald Davis and several nieces and nephews.
Chaplain Sally Legg and Bro. Dee Wolfe will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
